products were still operated manually. “I started out on the floor. It was just a job at first,” said Meza, “but as I learned more about the process and how to operate the different machinery, I was fascinated by all the potential I saw in what we did.”
“The more I did,” said Meza, “the more I wanted to do. I have a drive to always want to do more than just one thing, and it kept opening doors for me.” This motivation led Meza to finish his high school degree in night school, and on to college, all while working full-time at Arias.
The hard work has paid off. Meza recently received his BA in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix, and is applying much of what he learned to the hard-earned, hands-on knowledge he gained helping manufacture some of the finest piston products ever produced by Arias Pistons.
“I’m working with the family and everyone else here at Arias to lead us in a direction that synchronizes all our great ideas with the needs of our customers,” Meza said, “to enable us to make top-class pistons that outstrip our competition in innovation, quality and service. And at the same time, I want to be able to improve our working environment and upgrade our equipment and manufacturing methods so we are not just staying current technologically, but are creating the future of what our industry demands.”
All this focus and drive make for long days at work for Meza, who admits to being a bit of a workaholic. But Meza has another driving passion that consumes his efforts when he’s away from Arias golf. “The clubs are always in the car, and I’m always looking for a new course near whatever racing event I’m attending. While our customers, who I really do care about, are racing round and round, I can’t help thinking about playing my next round.”
Meza sees great opportunities ahead for Arias Pistons. “As long as there are people with a need to speed, we’ll be there to provide the best-manufactured pistons and other products we know how to make. Racing keeps evolving, and so will we.”
